Essere Avanti Prize – Seismic Adjustment Fado
The Ronzoni Company qualifies as a finalist project of the 2023 edition of the Essere Avanti Prize dedicated to Claudio De Albertis.
The Ronzoni Company, thanks to its seismic adjustment of the viaduct Fado Nord in Autostrada A26 Voltri-Gravellona Toce, has won a place among the finalists of the Premio Essere Avanti, recognition that from 2019 rewards construction companies that stand out for innovation, experimentation and research applied to both the process and products.
Essere Avanti Prize
The Essere Avanti Award is dedicated to enhancing the excellence that the construction sector expresses both in terms of innovation, both in terms of process optimization and construction product as the result of business challenges that have allowed to overcome the many critical issues related to the development of the building activity. The aim of the prize is to represent how the concept of innovation can be expressed in the field of building interventions, under the architectural aspect, construction technology, process innovation, energy and environmental sustainability.
The jury of the prize is made up of leading representatives from the world of construction, architecture, professions and culture.
The Prize is dedicated to Claudio De Albertis and it wants to be an opportunity to remember the man who was, positive, enterprising, who always spoke of future, growth and innovation with passion and lucidity, in all his 35 years of life spent at ANCE.
Assimprendil Ance is the association of construction companies in Milan, Lodi and Monza and Brianza, and is the largest reality in ANCE, the National Association of Builders of Confindustria, which the company Ronzoni is part since 1977.
The work of Ronzoni
The intervention that allowed Ronzoni to win the Essere Avanti 2023 Prize is the one related to the seismic adaptation of the Fado Nord viaduct in Autostrada A26 Voltri-Gravellona Toce. This project provided for the replacement of existing supports with new devices of modern design, without alternating the static scheme and in inserting new ribs in reinforced concrete at the shoulder side Genoa Voltri.
Not only. Given the high state of deterioration of the reinforced concrete areas of the entire viaduct, a cortical rehabilitation intervention was also carried out and repairs and improvements to the sewage disposal systems were required, as well as replacement of the existing expansion joints, since the initial state of degradation was mainly caused by the ineffectiveness of the storm water abatement systems.
Improvements
In detail, the project included:
- The replacement of existing support devices;
- The demolition and repair of water-tubs and the replacement of support equipment by new equipment;
- The synchronized lifting socket of maximum 5 mm of the head via a Sincrolift system (synchronized lifting by 4 independent hydraulic lines).
Feasibility
In order to minimize possible inconveniences from the point of view of the road, the construction site was carried out alternating work carried out during the day, with viaduct open to traffic, and night, with closure of the viaduct.
Innovation of materials
For the seismic adaptation of the Fado Nord viaduct, materials with high anti-seismic performance were used (specifically steel, concrete, mortars), which guarantee the viaduct a 100% resistance to seismic action, with a seismic protection index is equal to ISS>1.0 and an increase in seismic resistance of 150%.
