Seismic adjustment of the viaduct Fado Nord, built in the seventies and consisting of 3 light spans equal to about 38 ml located on Highway A26 “Voltri-Alessandria” at km 9+508 of competence of Autostrade per l’Italia S.P.A.
The intervention provided for the replacement of existing supports with new devices of modern design, carried out without altering the static pattern and inserting new ribs in c.a. at the shoulder side Genoa Voltri.
In order to achieve maximum safety, cortical remediation of the highly degraded areas in c.a. was also carried out and carbonation protection was added on all the structures. Since the present initial state of degradation was mainly caused by the ineffectiveness of the systems for removing the repair and improvement of the water disposal systems for the floorboards and the replacement of the existing expansion joints were also carried out.
By this intervention the structures in elevation of the viaduct Fado Nord are now able to withstand 100% of the seismic action, with a seismic protection index is equal to ISS > 1.0 and an increase in seismic resistance of 150%. A result also achieved through the careful choice of materials used (specifically steel, concrete, mortar), all characterized by high seismic performance, according to the current Technical Standards for Construction.
