Training and safety at the heart of the construction site: Ronzoni speaker at the StradAcademy conference

The conference “Skills That Make a Difference on the Construction Site” was held on 27 May 2026 in Cesano Maderno. The event was promoted by ESEM-CPT as part of the StradAcademy project, the first training school dedicated to the safety of road construction workers. Among the speakers was Filippo Ronzoni, Safety Manager and Special Attorney at Ronzoni Srl.

Safety as a responsibility, an opportunity, and a driver of growth. This, in essence, was the spirit that guided the discussion on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, at the conference “StradAcademy: Skills That Make a Difference on the Construction Site,” an opportunity for dialogue that brought together more than 70 companies and professionals to discuss safety, training, and professional qualification in the road infrastructure sector.

What emerged was a multifaceted picture, made up of skills to be developed and gaps that still need to be filled. Because while it is true that a construction site is made up of many professionals, the numbers point to a sector under pressure.

Construction and Safety: The 2025 Overview

In 2025 alone, construction was confirmed as the most critical sector in terms of safety, with 416,900 workplace injury reports recorded by INAIL, a slight increase compared with the previous year (source: Ingenio). This context is further exacerbated by the technological acceleration of operating machinery — milling machines, compactors, and road pavers — which are evolving more quickly than the training pathways designed for those who use them. This creates a mismatch that, in the road infrastructure sector, translates into tangible risks, disputes, and delays.

In this context, StradAcademy — launched in July 2025 — immediately positioned itself as a response to the issue, highlighting how operational quality, safety, and technological innovation are not separate objectives: they are part of the solution.

The 2026 Conference

The event opened with institutional greetings from Salvatore Cutaia, Vice President of ESEM-CPT, and Daniela Caputo, Delegate Councillor for Mobility, Metrotramways and European Funds Coordination at the Metropolitan City of Milan. This was followed by a speech by Gabriele Olivari, Director of the Roads and Infrastructure Department of the Metropolitan City of Milan, who focused on the importance of operator quality, highlighting how training and preparation have a direct impact on safety, operational efficiency, and the reduction of timeframes and disputes.

The topic of prevention and risk management was then explored in greater depth by Federico Corteggiani, ESEM-CPT technician, and Massimo Oliva, ESEM-CPT lecturer, with a focus on the different critical issues found on small and large construction sites.

Filippo Ronzoni, Safety Manager and Special Attorney at Ronzoni Srl, then underlined how training today represents not a cost, but an investment that is immediately perceptible in terms of safety, organisation, and quality of work. During his speech, Ronzoni placed particular emphasis on people, the true driving force behind the transition: they are the ones who experience the construction site every day, encountering problems, finding solutions, making mistakes… and then resolving them. In this context, creating spaces for open, non-judgemental discussion is not a cultural exercise, but a concrete lever for the growth of the sector.

A further focus was dedicated to the evolution of operating machinery and the need to develop increasingly specialised skills to manage advanced technologies and innovative processes. Roberto Boceda, Customer Support Manager at Wirtgen Macchine Srl, highlighted how technological progress is transforming the sector and requires trained operators who are constantly kept up to date.

Finally, Gabriele Zappa, Head of the Training Area at ESEM-CPT, presented StradAcademy’s training offering and the pathway developed to support the professional growth of operators in the road construction sector.

The meeting was concluded by Luca Cazzaniga, President of ESEM-CPT, who recalled the organisation’s mission to promote training, prevention, and professional qualification in support of companies and workers in the sector.

Ronzoni: A Consistent Choice

Ronzoni Srl’s participation in the conference promoted by ESEM-CPT as part of the StradAcademy project represents a choice consistent with the company’s way of doing business: contributing to the spread of a safety culture built through training, dialogue among operators, and the sharing of experience gained on construction sites.

Initiatives such as StradAcademy demonstrate how collaboration between ESEM-CPT, institutions, and companies can generate value for the entire sector, fostering skills development and the dissemination of best practices.

Because a safer construction site is not built through regulations alone, but through trained, aware, and constantly updated people.
